All international newspapers and pigeonwebsites agreed, Etienne Meirlaen was the best extreme long distance racer in Europe during the past racing season 2017. June 2017: 1st Provincial Pau - Mont de Marsan with Nestsister Montalisa
After winning 1st and 2nd National from Pau in 2014 and a 1st Provincial Pau in 2016, we now added another provincial first prize in the extreme long distance classic from Pau 2017 to his palmares as well. This is quite a list of results, and we think "Mister Pau" would be a great nickname for Etienne.
A third provincial first prize with a daughter of the new ‘Dream Pair’
Has Etienne Meirlaen found a talented new breeding pair in Montali x Daughter Ace Pair? It sure looks like it. This provincial first prize from Pau (Mont-de-Marsan) is already the third 1st provincial that was won by a daughter of this very pair. These are the three winning hens:

She is a great looking hen: average in size, impressive muscles, very vibrant. She almost feels like a well inflated bicycle tire. She has demonstrated her potential yet again, having already won a 24th Nat. Perpignan and an 80th Nat. Agen hens. Last weekend she claimed the number one spot at provincial level.

These pigeons are clearly born to win races. Talent breeds talent; you can tell from the origins of the provincial winner Nestsister Montalisa, and her full sisters Provincial Agen and Miss Agen.
The golden Yelena dynasty does it again
A successful career in pigeon racing is usually founded on a strong foundation, one exceptional bloodline, based on a talented breeding pair or a world class breeding bird (cock or hen). Golden stock dam Yelena is currently playing a major role in this success story.
The first three pigeons to arrive home from Pau (Mont-de-Marsan) are all grandchildren of Yelena: the 1st and 18th Provincial Pau are two daughters of Montali, and the 5th Provincial Pau is a son of Monar (Monar won a 1st Intnat. Narbonne 12,605 p.). Monar and Montali are full brothers, as well as half brothers of the equally legendary Marseille (from the same sire), 612 Brother Marseille (sire Fenomeen), Montauban (from the same dam), etc.

These are two impressive highlights in another successful 2016 season, and they were both won by one and the same pigeon. It is a grandson of two national first prize winners: Monar (1st Internat. Narbonne) and Euro Diamond - Brockamp (1st Nat. Carcassonne and Olympiad Pigeon Marathon). It is no secret that the Meirlaen pigeons are world class in the long distance and especially the extreme long distance. 28th December 2016: Outstanding in the Thailand One Loft Race
The pigeons of Meirlaen have been winning races across the globe. As you know, a talented group of pigeons will show its potential sooner or later. Descendants of the Meirlaen champions have won several provincial and national victories and ace pigeon titles both at home and abroad, including four national first prizes in the UK. And Etienne himself won a 1st prize in the Benzing One Loft Race in Japan (a race over 700km from Hokkaido Mori) in 2015. In the end of last year he won another top result in the World Championship Thailand 2016, claiming a 7th prize in this One Loft Race with BE16-4237321, which was also the first Belgian pigeon. This prize winner was bred from Halfbroer Monar BE12-4286786, a half brother of Monar (1st Internat. Narbonne 12,605 p. in 2011), Montali and Montauban and bred from Starlight BE06-4288140 (2nd Internat. Tarbes 12,549 p.) x stock dam Yelena BE06-4288297. Halfbroer Monar was paired to Dochter Fenomeen BE12-4286740, a top class hen that was inbred to the phenomenal Marseille dynasty: she comes from 't Fenomeen BE07-4278339 (the best Belgian long distance pigeon over 5 national races in 2010 in the PIPA ranking) paired to Dochter Marseille BE10-4325275.

26 June 2016: 1st Provincial Agen Yearlings
One week after the provincial victory from Pau, a new provincial victory was won from Agen against 717 yearlings and 6. Nat Agen 2,932 YL (official international result not published yet).
The winner is a hen, named Provincial Agen BE15-4240121, a full sister to Miss Agen BE13-4077154, winner of 1. Prov Agen 659 Yl and 3. Nat Agen 3.180 YL in 2014.
Both are daughter to super breeder Montali (son to basic hen Yelena) x Daughter Ace Pair (a daughter to Cor: 1. Nat Ace Extreme Long Distance KBDB 2008 x Perpignan Lady: 1. Nat Ace Extreme Long Distance KBDB 2009).

19 June 2016: 1st Provinciaal Pau old birds
After the stunt in 2014, with the winning of 1. + 2. Nat Pau… on the international classic from Pau, we won again the 1. Provincial against 299 old birds and 11. National Pau from 1.661 old birds in 2016.
The winner is Provincial Pau BE12-4278314, a grandson from two world-famous top-racers Monar and Euro Diamond:
